Mulberry cutting time

Mulberry trees are suitable for cuttings in early summer, which is around June to July every year. At this time, they are in a period of vigorous growth, the branches have strong germination, and the surrounding temperature is more suitable for growth. In addition to summer, you can also choose to do cuttings in spring or autumn. It is best not to do cuttings in winter, as the low temperature is not conducive to rooting.

Mulberry cutting method

1. Cut cuttings: Before mulberry tree cuttings, cut branches from healthy plants. You can cut semi-lignified green branches. They should have strong growth potential and be free from the influence of diseases and pests. The length can be about 15 cm. Prune the cuttings appropriately, remove the leaves at the bottom, and keep the two leaves at the top.

2. Prepare the substrate: After the mulberry cuttings are prepared, you need to choose suitable soil. The soil layer should be deep, well-drained and air-permeable so that the cuttings can survive. After preparation, they cannot be used directly and need to be disinfected and sterilized.

3. Carry out cuttings: spray a small amount of water on the substrate to keep it slightly moist, then insert the mulberry branches into it, about one-third to two-thirds, and do not insert too deep.

Mulberry tree cutting maintenance

Management after mulberry tree cuttings is also of paramount importance. You can move the flowerpot to a cool and well-ventilated location, maintain a suitable temperature, water it in time, and maintain appropriate humidity. The mulberry branches will take root in about three weeks.
