How to grow Daphne odora in autumn

How to grow Daphne odora in autumn

1. Proper water control

In autumn, the amount of watering for Osmanthus fragrans should be gradually reduced. This can inhibit the emergence of new leaves and avoid excessive consumption of nutrients. Doing so can also encourage it to bud. After the flower buds are formed, slowly resume watering. The amount of watering should not be too much, just make sure the soil in the pot is moist.

2. Control fertilization

Autumn is the time when it buds, and its growth rate is relatively slow at this time. Therefore, after the fall, you should temporarily stop fertilizing to control the excessive growth of branches and leaves. After the flower buds appear, you can apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Potassium fertilizer can promote the development of flower buds. Stop fertilizing after the flower buds are colored, which can extend the flowering time.

3. Increase Lighting

It can be exposed to light in early October. At the beginning, it only needs two or three hours of sunlight in the morning. This state should continue until November. After November, it can be exposed to sunlight all day.

4. Control temperature

The temperature in early autumn is still relatively high, so no treatment is required. After the temperature drops in late autumn, it should be placed in a warm place for maintenance. If it is maintained outdoors, before the cold current comes, wrap its branches with used cotton wool to keep out the cold. Heating has started in the north in late autumn. The Osmanthus fragrans that you are maintaining should not be placed on the ground. The temperature of the floor heating is too high and will affect the growth of the plant. It should be placed on a flower rack. If the growth temperature is too high, the branches and leaves need to be watered frequently, one to remove dust, and the other to reduce the temperature.
