When is the best time to repot Daphne odora? Time and precautions for repotting soil

Time to repot Daphne odora

Daphne osmanthus needs to be repotted, usually once every two years. This can meet the needs of root growth and help the plant grow vigorously. The best time to repot is in early spring, which is around February to March. At this time, the plant has not yet sprouted, so it is more suitable for repotting.

How to repot Daphne koreana

1. Choose potting soil

Choose a suitable flowerpot according to the size of the Daphne odora. Generally speaking, it should be larger than the previous one to meet the growth requirements of the roots. As for the soil, Daphne odora likes acidic and loose soil. You can prepare it in advance and expose it to the sun. This can kill harmful bacteria in the soil in advance.

2. Repotting

Take the Daphne koreana out of its original pot, shake off the soil around the roots, trim off old and rotten roots, and place it in a cool, ventilated place for three days. After the wounds are dry, place the plant in new potting soil, keeping the depth the same as the original one. Then compact the soil and water it thoroughly.

Precautions for repotting Daphne koreana

When repotting the Daphne odora, be careful not to damage its root system, otherwise, after repotting, there will be problems with its nutrient supply, making it difficult to grow. In addition, right after repotting, place it in a warm, well-ventilated semi-shady environment, keep the soil slightly dry, and wait for 5-7 days for it to adapt to the new soil and pot, then you can resume normal maintenance.
