Time to repot the Guanyin lotus

The Alocasia odora needs to be repotted. It grows fastest in spring and autumn, so it can be repotted in early spring, after which it can grow rapidly. In addition to spring, repotting can also be considered in autumn, provided that the temperature in the maintenance area is relatively warm in winter.

How to repot the Alocasia odora

1. Prepare the soil

Before repotting the Alocasia odora, prepare the flowerpot and soil first. Generally, you need to choose a breathable flowerpot. It looks better to repot it with a light-colored one according to the leaf color of the Alocasia odora. The diameter of the flowerpot is about 10 cm, and the soil should be sandy soil containing more humus, such as a mixture of garden soil, vermiculite, and perlite.

2. Remove the pot

Remove the Alocasia odora from its original pot with the soil ball. Let the soil dry out before repotting. Then tap the edge of the pot to loosen the two parts. It will be easier to remove from the pot. After taking out the Alocasia odora, clean the soil around the roots, but do not damage the roots. Then put it in a new pot and soil.

Things to note when repotting Guanyin Lotus

It is best to repot the Alocasia odora on a cloudy day. You can also repot it in the early morning or evening when the weather is clear, and avoid the hot midday. In addition, water it thoroughly after repotting, and do not water it frequently afterwards. Wait until the soil surface is dry before watering. The ambient temperature should be controlled between 20-30℃ for the fastest growth. If it is kept at this temperature for a long time, it is very easy for the pot to burst.
