How to cultivate peach

Pot soil selection

To grow peach trees, you need to choose suitable potting soil. When choosing flower pots, it is mainly necessary to choose purple clay pots or glazed pottery pots to match the color of the peach tree and create a good flowering effect. The soil can be loose, breathable and well-drained to ensure a certain level of fertility.

Light and temperature

The peach tree likes a warm environment, can withstand high temperatures and cold, and likes light. The peach tree can be placed in a sunny place for maintenance, but not too shady, which will reduce its flowering. The peach tree is cold-resistant, but please note that in northern regions it should be placed indoors over the winter, while in southern regions it can be placed outdoors in the sun.

Water and fertilizer management

The soil of the peach tree needs to be kept moist at normal times. It can tolerate drought but is afraid of waterlogging. Watering should be moderate, with sufficient watering during the flowering period. In early spring and late autumn, thawing and freezing water is needed. In summer, more watering is appropriate during high temperatures, but not too much. Pay attention to timely drainage to avoid water accumulation. Peach blossoms like fertilizer, but not too much fertilizer. You can apply some base fertilizer when planting, and also apply some base fertilizer before winter. It should be noted that fertilizer should be applied according to the growth conditions of the plant. If the growth is vigorous, reduce fertilization. Phosphorus fertilizer can be applied before flowering to promote flowering.

Reproduction method

The main method of propagation of peach is grafting. Choose a suitable rootstock, graft it using bud grafting or branch grafting, and provide good maintenance management after it takes root.

Things to note when growing peach

prune

Pruning of peach trees is usually done during the dormant period or after flowering. Pruning peach trees mainly involves shaping them, cutting off branches that affect the shape of the tree. After flowering, the main focus is on pruning the flower branches, which can make the tree beautiful and produce more flowers. You can cut off the dead branches, diseased branches and weak branches to promote the good growth of the peach tree.

Repotting

The peach tree is generally repotted once every 1-2 years during its dormant period. When repotting, new culture soil can be replaced and roots can be pruned.

Pests and diseases

The more common diseases of peach trees include leaf curl, gummosis and anthracnose, while the insect pests include aphids, scale insects, red spiders and moths.
