What are the breeding methods and precautions of Black Prince?

Black Prince Growth Habits

Black Prince is suitable for cultivation in an environment with sufficient sunlight and good ventilation. Its main growing season is in spring and autumn, but its dormancy period is not very obvious. It can continue to grow if proper shading is given in the summer and the cultivation environment is kept cool and ventilated. In winter, the soil in the pot should be kept dry and the ambient temperature should not be lower than 5°C.

Black Prince Breeding Method

Soil: It needs sandy soil with good drainage and air permeability for cultivation. The preparation method can be leaf mold, sandy soil and garden soil in equal proportions. The pot can be repotted every two years, and the necrotic old roots should be cut off when repotting.

Light: Black Prince loves light. If there is enough light and the temperature difference between day and night is large, the leaf color will become darker and brighter. Therefore, as long as the temperature is suitable, we can try to cultivate Black Prince outdoors to ensure sufficient light.

Temperature: The most suitable growth temperature is 15-25℃. If it is below 5℃, frost damage may occur. When the temperature is too high or too low in winter and summer, the plant will stop growing. Stop watering at this time. In summer, place the Black Prince in a well-ventilated place to avoid exposure to the sun.

Watering: Avoid excessive watering, otherwise the plant will grow too tall. If the soil in the pot is always too wet, the roots will not be able to absorb oxygen normally, which can easily cause root rot.

Fertilization: Topdressing should be based on the principle of thin fertilizer and frequent application, and slow-release fertilizer can be directly buried in the soil; it can be applied once a week in spring and autumn, and once every 3-4 days in summer. However, it is necessary to suspend fertilization on rainy days and during dormancy.

Pruning: When the plant is in the seedling stage, it needs to be topped in time. When the seedling grows to about 15 cm high, we can remove its top buds and keep it at about 7 cm high. After the top buds grow again, continue to top them.

Black Prince breeding precautions

Black Prince grows strongly, so management can be a little rough. During the summer dormancy period, pay attention to controlling watering to avoid root rot caused by excessive moisture in the soil. In winter, due to less light, the leaves will turn green, especially the newly grown leaves, which are more obvious. You don't need to worry about it. When spring comes, it will gradually turn black and purple with the increase of light.
