What are the cultivation methods and precautions for glass begonia

Growth habits of glass begonia

Glass begonia is not cold-resistant and prefers a warm, sunny environment. The most suitable growth temperature is around 20 degrees. It likes a humid air environment, but it is necessary to avoid waterlogging in the soil, which can easily cause the roots and leaves near the roots of the glass begonia to rot. Avoid too much direct sunlight, which can easily cause leaf burns of the glass begonia, and keep the plant ventilated.

Glass Begonia cultivation method

Soil: Glass Begonia does not have high requirements for soil. Generally, the leaf mold and sawdust required by flowers can be mixed with soil. You can also add some river sand to enhance the air permeability of the soil.

Temperature: The most suitable temperature for its growth is around 25°C. Glass begonia is not cold-resistant, and it will stop growing if the temperature is below 5°C.

Light: Glass Begonia likes light and needs to be provided with sufficient light, but it cannot tolerate strong light, so when growing it in the summer, we need to grow it in a cool place indoors to avoid strong light burning the plant.

Watering: In addition to not over-watering, you should also pay attention to timely drainage and waterlogging prevention during the rainy season to avoid being exposed to wind and rain.

Fertilization: In order to make it grow well, it is recommended to apply nitrogen fertilizer once every two months during the growth period; you can also make your own flower fertilizer by crushing peanuts or soybeans and burying them in the flowerpot; you can also bury about 30 compound fertilizers beside the flowerpot. In winter, you can fertilize once a month, but not too concentrated, and keep the temperature above 10℃.

Pruning: When the columnar plant grows to 30 to 50 cm, cut off the top and let it grow naturally to form a multi-headed Begonia. The selection should be orderly and not disordered. When the Begonia column grows to a height of 2 to 3 meters, it will form many stigmas, which can easily cause the top to be heavy. It should be tied with sticks in time to fix it.

Precautions for cultivating glass begonia

During the growing season in spring and autumn, it is necessary to follow the principle of applying thin fertilizers frequently, mainly applying well-rotted odorless organic thin fertilizer water or inorganic fertilizer soaked liquid.

Apply more nitrogen fertilizer during the seedling stage to promote the growth of branches and leaves; apply more phosphorus fertilizer during the bud and flowering stage to promote the formation of more flower buds and more bright flowers. If there is a lack of fertilizer, the Begonia plant will wither or even die.
