Is ivy a shade or sun-loving plant?

Does ivy prefer shade or sun?

Ivy is a shade-loving plant. The plant does not need direct sunlight. If it is exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, the plant will have symptoms such as yellow leaves, rotten leaves, and stopped growing. Normally, it only needs to receive a little scattered light.

Ivy basking in the sun

Ivy is a shade-loving plant and does not require much light. It can receive a small amount of light every day in the early stages of growth. The daily light exposure time should not exceed one hour. After the plant is formed, it can be given light 2-3 times a week.

Ivy can be exposed to the sun, but only diffuse light, not direct sunlight. It is recommended to expose it to the sun when the temperature is below 28°C. Otherwise, if the temperature is too high, the leaves of the plant will lose their green color, and in severe cases, they will be burned.

Ivy growth habit

Ivy prefers a warm, humid, well-ventilated semi-shady environment. It has strong cold resistance, but it hates high temperature and stuffiness. The suitable temperature for the plant's growth is between 18-25℃. It is not strict about light requirements and can grow normally in a room with insufficient light.

Ivy is a negative-loving vine plant. If you grow it at home, you can place it in the living room, balcony, bathroom, etc. However, because the leaves of the plant are somewhat toxic, it is best not to place it in the bedroom to avoid affecting people's health.
