How to grow red sandalwood in a pot

1. Temperature and light

Rosewood potted plants are sun-loving plants, suitable for growing on well-lit balconies or windowsills to ensure sufficient light. The plant is not resistant to low temperatures, and the suitable growth temperature is between 20-30 degrees. Generally, the temperature is below 3 degrees and it is prone to frost damage.

2. Soil

To care for red sandalwood potted plants, you need to choose a suitable flowerpot with drainage holes at the bottom for good drainage. In addition, red sandalwood has a developed root system and nodules, which can fix nitrogen. It has a wide adaptability to soil and can grow in ordinary soil.

3. Watering

Rosewood is a tropical plant that likes a humid environment and is not drought-resistant. It usually needs to be watered every two or three days. It is best to water it in the morning and evening, avoiding the hot noon. Otherwise, water will evaporate under high temperatures, which will cause the plant to wither in the long run. Water it thoroughly each time.

4. Fertilization

Red sandalwood does not require much fertilizer and does not need to be fertilized frequently. Generally, the plant nutrient solution can be diluted with water every 1-2 months and then directly poured into the soil.

Red sandalwood bonsai has a strong adaptability to the environment. If it is maintained in one environment for a long time, it will develop a sense of dependence. The bonsai should not be moved frequently to avoid affecting the growth of the red sandalwood.

2. Pest and disease control

Red sandalwood bonsai seedlings and young trees are prone to diseases, mainly anthracnose and black mole disease, which can be controlled by spraying Bordeaux mixture or carbendazim. Common insect pests include leaf-eating pests such as flower bugs and beetles, which can be killed by spraying dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane.
