How to make sweet potatoes sprout quickly

Sweet potato germination environment

Sweet potatoes have seeds, which are hidden in the capsule. They can be harvested in time after they are ripe and stored in a dry environment until they are sown. If you find it troublesome, you can buy them directly from the market.

Sweet potatoes prefer a warm environment and are not resistant to low temperatures. The suitable growth temperature is 22-30℃. They stop growing when the temperature is below 15℃. Therefore, they are suitable for sowing in the warm seasons of spring and autumn, and the germination speed will be slightly faster.

Sweet potato germination process

First, you need to buy naturally mature, undamaged sweet potatoes, then prepare sand and bury them deeply, spray an appropriate amount of water on the sand to keep the sand moist. After waiting for a while, the sweet potatoes will take root and sprout, and can be transplanted.

In addition, sweet potato seeds can germinate if planted directly, but the germination speed is relatively slow. If they are properly treated for germination, they will germinate quickly.

Sweet potato sprouts in the soil

When the sweet potato seedlings grow to 30 to 40 centimeters, we will cut them off, and then propagate them with three leaves as a node, and the plant spacing should be controlled at about 30 centimeters.

Sweet potato sprouting method

Sweet potato seeds need to be disinfected and can be soaked in a solution of polysaccharides for about 10 minutes. This can effectively prevent some diseases, and then they can be sown in loose and fertile soil.

Sweet potato sprout planting

Sweet potatoes generally need to be germinated in sandy soil in advance and then transplanted into suitable soil. You can also place the germinated sweet potatoes in a container filled with water for potted plants. When growing sweet potatoes in soil, they need to be watered every 5 days and organic fertilizer applied every 15-20 days. For hydroponic sweet potatoes, change the water every 10 days, and you can add a few drops of nutrient solution when changing the water.
