Passion fruit cutting rooting time

Passion fruit is best propagated by cuttings in autumn and spring. The temperature should be between 15-28 degrees, and the survival rate of cuttings is high. If such a temperature can be provided in other seasons and the air humidity is above 50%, the survival rate is also guaranteed. Cuttings are also possible when the temperature and humidity are not suitable, but they may not survive.

It takes a relatively long time for passion fruit cuttings to germinate. You can use a transparent plastic cup as a cutting container, and you can directly determine whether the passion fruit cuttings have taken root by observing the soil. It takes about 30 to 60 days to grow roots .

Passion fruit cutting rooting method

1. Choose soil: Choose river sand as the soil, because river sand is soft, breathable and can retain moisture, bacteria are not easy to breed, which is conducive to the rooting of passion fruit cuttings.

2. Branch selection: Choose one-year-old branches with good growth for cuttings, which have the highest survival rate. The branches should be of moderate thickness. Branches that are too thick or too old will not have enough nutrients in the soil to grow, while branches that are too tender will not be able to stand.

3. Spring cuttings: Passion fruit is best cut in spring, as spring is the growth stage of passion fruit and it can grow immediately after cuttings.

4. Cutting seedling cultivation: Before cutting, cut the cutting branches into small sections, with 2-4 buds in each section, and cut the bottom of the branches into an oblique end to increase the area for water absorption. Be sure to point the leaf buds upwards before inserting them into the soil.

Passion fruit cutting management

1. When cutting passion fruit, you can soak it in potassium permanganate for ten minutes, then soak it in rooting powder for ten minutes, and finally wash it clean before cutting.

2. After the passion fruit cuttings have taken root, they can be exposed to the sun. At this time, only weak sunlight can be seen. They cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will wilt.

3. Passion fruit can be sprayed with rooting foliar fertilizer half a month after cutting. Rooting foliar fertilizer is rich in various rooting factors, which promote the flow of cell protoplasm. Foliar spraying can quickly promote rooting and improve the survival rate. At the same time, it can enhance the resistance of passion fruit plants to common diseases.

4. After the passion fruit is grafted, just keep the soil in the pot moist. Do not water it unless it is dry, and water it thoroughly when you do. Also, make sure to maintain a ventilated and sunny environment when watering.
