Where to grow chickpeas

Where chickpeas are grown

Chickpeas generally grow in hot, rainy, arid or semi-arid areas. They are suitable for growing in places with good sunshine conditions. They are widely planted in Xinjiang, Gansu and other places in my country.

Chickpeas are suitable for cultivation in places with low precipitation, moderate temperature and strong light. They are very suitable for planting in the arid and rainy northwest region. Chickpeas themselves have poor tolerance to waterlogging and are not suitable for planting in the south. They are also not suitable for areas with high precipitation in the north. The chickpeas produced in Muli Kazakh Autonomous County, Xinjiang, my country are quite famous.

Chickpea Growing Conditions

Chickpeas are suitable for cultivation in temperate continental climates or temperate steppe climates. The daytime temperature in the planting area needs to be above 20 degrees Celsius. The soil should be as poor as possible. Too fertile soil is not conducive to the growth of chickpeas. During the planting process, excessive watering should be avoided to prevent waterlogging in the soil, which can cause great damage to the plants.

Key points for chickpea planting and management

1. Lighting:

Chickpeas require relatively high amounts of sunlight when grown, requiring an average of more than eight hours of sunshine during the growth period, so when choosing a planting site, look for a location with good sunlight.

2. Water content:

Chickpeas have a small demand for water and do not require a large amount of rainfall. The moisture content in the soil does not need to be too high. Just wait until the soil is almost dry and cracked before watering.

3. Fertilizer:

There are no special requirements for soil fertility when planting chickpeas, but the main thing is to try not to add extra fertilizer, otherwise it may have an adverse effect on the chickpea plants.
