How to change the soil of Anthurium

When to change the soil for Anthurium

Every 1-3 years of cultivation, the soil and pot of Anthurium need to be changed depending on the situation. The recommended time for changing the pot is on a sunny and rainless day in spring. The soil should be fertile, loose and breathable slightly acidic humus soil or mixed soil. The flower pots should be cultivated in clay pots or ceramic pots with high air permeability.

It is not recommended to change the soil for Anthurium in summer because the weather is too hot at this time and will damage the roots. If the Anthurium cannot adapt in time, it will easily die. It is best to do it in spring.

When to change soil and transplant Anthurium

It is best to change the soil and transplant Anthurium in April and May. The temperature and humidity at this time are suitable, which can help it quickly resume normal growth.

How to change the soil and pot of Anthurium

1. Find a flowerpot of suitable size, plug the large round hole at the bottom of the flowerpot with gauze, you can find large tiles or large stones, fill them with expanded clay to increase air permeability, fill about 1/3 of the pot, add nutrient soil, and determine how much nutrient soil to add based on the original height of the anthurium pot to pad the bottom.

2. Anthurium will grow well in loose loam with good drainage. You can mix peat soil and leaf mold with perlite and sand in the ratio of 4:2:2:2. This mixture is very suitable for its growth. In addition to air permeability and drainage, it can also increase nutrition.

3. Remove the original flowerpot, take out the whole anthurium, be gentle so as not to damage the roots, place the anthurium in the middle of the large flowerpot, control the height and center with one hand, and add nutrient soil with the other hand, compact it after adding, spread a layer of medical stone on it, water it thoroughly, and wait for it to adapt to the pot.

Notes on changing soil for Anthurium

1. Number of times to repot : It is best to repot once every year, which will allow the Anthurium to grow better. Also, the soil should be exposed to the sun when repotting.

2. Choose a flowerpot : It is best if the flowerpot has good drainage, that is, there should be drainage holes at the bottom of the flowerpot to prevent water accumulation and root rot of the anthurium.

3. Sunlight : After repotting the anthurium, you should place it in a sunny place so that it can grow better.

4. Top dressing : One month after repotting, you should also apply top dressing to the anthurium, such as adding an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer, organic fertilizer, etc., so that the anthurium can grow better.
