How long is the growth cycle of chicory?

Introduction to Chicory Growth

Chicory mostly grows in coastal wastelands, riverbanks, ditches or hillsides. It is widely distributed in Europe, Asia, and North Africa. In my country, it is distributed in Beijing, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Jiangxi and other places.

Chicory Growth Cycle

Chicory likes warmth and is very cold-resistant. Its leaves remain dark green at minus 8-10 degrees Celsius. It takes about 7 months from sowing to harvesting.

Chicory growth rate

After sowing, chicory will germinate in about 5-8 days and emerge easily. Remove small and inferior seedlings half a month to one month after emergence, and apply full-effect fertilizer once. After each mowing, water and fertilize in time to promote regeneration. It can maintain high yield for more than 10 years without decline.

Chicory Growth Cycle Management

The yield of chicory per mu is about 10,000 to 12,000 kilograms, and the yield of chicory in the north and south is not much different. Chicory seeds have strong vitality and strong adaptability. They are easy to germinate after sowing, and can even stand without soil cover.

Temperature management: Chicory prefers coolness and is not resistant to high temperatures. The germination temperature is around 15 degrees. It is best to grow between 11-18 degrees. During softening cultivation, the temperature should be controlled at 10-20 degrees.

Fertilization management : chicory should be fertilized with farmyard manure as the base fertilizer, and quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer urea should be applied after germination. In the middle of growth, a small amount of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer should be applied, and excessive use of chemical fertilizers should be avoided. At the same time, water and fertilize in time after each harvest.
