How to get the seeds of the bottle orchid

The bottle orchid is a tree-like succulent plant with a very peculiar stem. The base is swollen, much like a large wine bottle. The bark has small cracked squares and the leaves are swaying, making it a very peculiar decorative plant.

Bottle orchid is generally propagated by sowing, but it does not produce seeds. Most of the seeds are imported from the place of origin. Before sowing, you can mix leaf mold and river sand to make nutrient soil. After sowing, keep it moist, but not too wet, otherwise it will cause rot.

Sprinkle bottle orchid seeds

Before sowing bottle orchid seeds, you must first select healthy and suitable seeds, and then soak them in warm water for 15 minutes to germinate. When sowing, place the seeds on the surface of the cultivation substrate, cover with 1 cm of substrate, water them appropriately, and water them again when the potting soil is dry.

Save your own seeds for the bottle orchid

You cannot save seeds of the bottle orchid yourself. Generally, you have to buy seeds. It can be propagated by two methods: sowing and cutting.

Planting of bottle orchid seeds

Bottle Orchid can be propagated by sowing in spring, autumn and winter. It is generally chosen to sow in early spring, late autumn or winter, so that the seeds of Bottle Orchid can grow better. Sowing in this season may encounter low temperatures and cold waves, so remember to keep warm and prevent cold to prevent frost damage.

Bottle orchid is suitable for planting in large pots, whether it is placed at home or in the office. Bottle orchid has strong drought resistance and does not need a lot of water. Bottle orchid grows relatively vigorously in spring, summer and autumn. Give it appropriate water and fertilizer every 20 days or so. Do not fertilize it in winter.

In addition, repot and change the soil of the bottle orchid every three years. When repotting, you can trim the roots of the plant. It is a sun-loving plant and usually needs sufficient light, but proper shade is needed when the sunlight is strong.
