The growing environment and local conditions of peach trees

Peach tree growth environment and conditions

Peach trees are generally planted in warmer, sheltered places. Because they need sunlight to grow, the planting site should be on a sunny slope as much as possible, and there should be deep, permeable soil so that the roots of the peach trees can grow well and the trees can grow healthily.

Peach trees are widely distributed in China, mainly in the provinces of North China and East China. The more concentrated areas include Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Jiangsu.

Peach Tree Growing Conditions

Peach likes warm environment and is slightly cold-resistant. Its root system is shallow, but it has many well-developed fibrous roots. It is suitable for planting in fertile, well-drained soil. It cannot be planted in alkaline soil or heavy clay soil. It is not resistant to water and humidity and cannot be cultivated in low-lying waterlogged areas.

Peach tree growth temperature

Peach trees are prone to frost damage when the temperature is below -25 to -23 degrees Celsius in winter. They grow best in cool and mild climates. The ideal temperature for southern varieties is 10 to 17 degrees Celsius, while for northern varieties it is 8 to 14 degrees Celsius. The maintenance temperature should not be too low.

Peach tree growth process

Peach trees are generally propagated by grafting and cuttings. After the tree survives, it will take root and sprout branches, gradually growing thicker and stronger. It will sprout in January, bloom in February-March, and the flowers will wither around April, resulting in fruits. The fruits will mature in August-September in autumn.

Peach tree planting time and method

The planting time is generally from the time the peach trees' leaves fall in autumn to the time before the spring buds sprout. The best time is from late November to early to mid-December. First of all, you need to choose suitable soil. Peach trees can choose warmer, deeper, more fertile and well-drained soil, preferably black soil.

Before sowing, the seeds need to be soaked in warm water for 5-7 days. Use row sowing method, and thin out and transplant the seedlings when they are 3 cm tall. Water them frequently during the growth period. Appropriate water can be added during the high temperature in summer. During the young tree period, it is necessary to control the amount of nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow too long. Apply more nitrogen fertilizer after the peak fruit-bearing period.
