Cultivation methods and precautions of glass jade

Cultivation methods and precautions of glass jade

1. Soil

When growing glass jade, use loose, breathable and well-drained soil. The plant will breathe better and absorb nutrients and water in such a soil environment. You can mix it with garden soil, slag, or river sand, sawdust and garden soil, and it will grow well.

2. Lighting

It likes sunshine and an environment with plenty of light. When caring for it, you should place it in a well-lit place and get more sun. It can get direct sunlight all day long in spring, autumn and winter. But the light in summer is too strong, so shading is necessary. At least 50% of the light should be blocked, and it can be placed in a semi-shaded environment.

3. Watering

Glass Jade likes a humid environment. The soil should be kept slightly moist during the growing season and watered frequently. The specific frequency of watering depends on the season. If it is in the hot summer, it is best to water it once a day. In spring and autumn, it needs to be watered once every four or five days, and in winter, it only needs to be watered once a week. Be careful not to allow waterlogging in the soil in any season.

4. Fertilization

It consumes a lot of nutrients for its growth, so a layer of base fertilizer should be applied when potting. You can use decomposed organic fertilizer, with a thickness of 1-2 cm. Top dressing is also required during the growth period. It is recommended to water the plant with decomposed cake fertilizer water once every 10 days. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied before flowering to promote better flowering.

5. Notes

It is not very cold-resistant, so you must pay attention to temperature control during the winter when the temperature drops, especially in the northern regions. It should be moved indoors in time, and it is best to control the temperature above 10 degrees. In addition, the plant should be repotted every two years with new pots and soil to ensure sufficient growth space and prevent the soil from becoming compacted.
