When does the lotus sprout?

The lotus is native to China. It is usually planted in spring from March to April. It takes a week from planting to germination and leaf growth. It should not be planted too early as it is prone to frost damage.

Lotus likes calm shallow water in stable lakes and ponds. The amount of water it needs depends on the species. It is sensitive to water loss. If it is not watered in summer, the lotus leaves will wilt and burn. Lotus also likes light and needs a full-light environment to grow.

Requirements for lotus germination and leaf growth

(1) Soil requirements

Lotus has loose soil requirements. It is best to plant it in sticky and fertile soil with a lot of humus, which is helpful for growth.
(2) Temperature requirements

Lotus is a plant with strong heat resistance, so it can grow freely in the hot summer. However, in the winter in the north, the temperature is often below 5℃, so it is particularly important to take good insulation measures. You can move the potted lotus indoors in winter and keep the ambient temperature at 5-10℃.

(3) Climate conditions
Lotus flowers prefer a hot, humid climate with plenty of sunshine. They need eight hours of sunlight a day to bloom more flowers.

Lotus flowering time

Lotus flowers bloom in June and July in summer. Because the temperature is high and the climate is hot and humid, the soil in the water is very nutritious, and the lotus flowers can take root in it quickly, so it only takes about 20 days for it to bloom after pollination.
