Taro growth environment conditions and characteristics

Taro growth environment conditions and requirements

Taro is a tuber crop that generally grows in swampy areas such as China, Malaysia and the Indian Peninsula. It is widely distributed in my country. It has good nutritional and medicinal value and prefers to grow in a high temperature and humid environment.

Taro Growth Temperature

Taro has different temperature requirements during different growth periods. When taro begins to sprout, the environmental temperature must reach 13-15 degrees. When taro begins to grow rapidly, the environmental temperature needs to reach 27-30 degrees.

Taro growth humidity

During its growth process, taro likes a humid environment. It is resistant to moisture but not to waterlogging. Generally, the air humidity for its growth needs to be 80-90%, and the soil humidity can generally be maintained at around 70%. Artificial cultivation also requires attention to controlling the amount of watering.

Taro growing soil

Taro is usually planted in the open air. The soil for planting taro should be loose, breathable, and have good drainage. Generally, the soil for planting is mainly neutral soil. When planting, a layer of ground film should be laid to facilitate germination.

Taro growth cycle and process

Taro is an annual crop with a relatively long growth cycle, generally around 210-240 days. Late-maturing ones generally take 300 days to mature. Taro is usually planted in March in spring and can be harvested in October in autumn.
