How to cultivate air plants

Air Plant Growth Conditions

Air plants are native to tropical and subtropical arid areas. The most suitable growth temperature is 15-30 degrees. Frost damage may occur if the temperature is below 5 degrees. In winter, you must pay attention to keeping warm. Air plants absorb water through the hairs on their leaves.

How to grow air plants

Air plants grow better in an environment of 20-25 degrees. Usually, place them in an environment with sufficient scattered light. Take shade measures in summer and ventilate them regularly. Provide sufficient water during the growth period, water them once every three to five days, and spray water on the leaves from time to time to increase the humidity.

Air Plant Watering

Air plants are rarely sprayed with water, usually in winter. After spraying, check whether there is water accumulation in the center and base of the leaves. If there is, clean it up in time. Soaking in water is more commonly used, about once every 7-10 days. It cannot be used in high temperatures.

Fertilizing Air Plants

The growth of air plants requires the support of fertilizers. It is best to use special fertilizers. Dilute them with water before use and then spray them. Do not use concentrated fertilizers.

Air plant pest control

If the air plant is not well ventilated, scale insects will appear. If the number is small, you can use a cotton ball dipped in vinegar or alcohol to wipe it. If the number is large, you can use insecticide. If snails and slugs appear, kill them as many as they can. If red spiders appear, rinse them off with clean water. In addition, increasing the humidity appropriately can avoid the appearance of red spiders.

How to grow air plants at home

During the maintenance of air plants, it is best to provide a temperature of 15-30 degrees. If the temperature is higher than 25 degrees, you can strengthen ventilation and increase air humidity. Pay attention to spraying water in summer, but do not let water accumulate in the center of the leaves. You can place the plant in a bright place indoors. If the growth is not good, supplement light in time.

Precautions for air plant maintenance

When caring for air plants indoors, do not place them in a tank. They like a well-ventilated environment and will go bad if kept in a stuffy tank. If the air is too dry, be careful not to expose them to the sun when there is water on the leaves. Usually the temperature in winter should be controlled above 5℃. The general household temperature in winter is around 20℃.
