It is suitable for planting in slightly acidic sandy loam with good drainage, rich in humus, loose, fertile, and fertile.

How to grow gerbera

Gerbera prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight and good air circulation. It should be grown in loose, fertile, well-drained, humus-rich sandy loam. It is not cold-resistant and needs to be kept warm in winter. It can be maintained in full sunlight, and needs shade in summer when the light intensity is high.

Watering gerbera

The watering methods for gerbera are different at different times. During the seedling stage, water it every 5 days or so. Do not water it too much. During the flowering period, drip irrigation can be used. Do not water it until the soil in the pot is completely dry. When it is growing vigorously, you can combine it with fertilization.

Fertilizing Gerbera

Gerbera likes fertilizer. First, use compound fertilizer as base fertilizer before planting or in early autumn, then apply decomposed organic fertilizer or nitrogen fertilizer every 7 days in autumn, and apply potassium fertilizer every half a month when the flowering period is approaching in late autumn. You can also spray foliar fertilizer. After the flowering period, reduce fertilization to once a month.

Gerbera pest control

African daisy often suffers from spot disease, so the diseased leaves need to be removed and thiophanate-methyl sprayed for treatment. If mosaic disease occurs, it will be detrimental to the flowering of the plant and needs to be treated by spraying pesticides in time. Common pests are whiteflies and thrips, which can be killed by spraying with dichlorvos or imidacloprid.

How to grow gerbera at home

During the maintenance of gerbera, sufficient light must be ensured. When the light is insufficient, artificial lighting is needed. Shade is needed in summer, and full sunlight should be guaranteed as much as possible in winter. It should be provided with a growing environment of 20℃ ~ 25℃. The soil should have good drainage, and the number of waterings should be increased in summer. Fertilize once a week in spring and autumn, and once every half a month in summer and winter. Reproduction can be carried out by sowing.

Precautions for the care of gerbera

Gerbera grows vigorously, and its leaves may turn yellow or overlap. Timely pruning can enhance the light transmittance and ventilation of the plant and keep the plant growing healthily.
