Chinese spinach is not only nutritious and crispy, but was also a delicious delicacy in the ancient palace, so it has the reputation of "Emperor's Dish" and has extremely high edible and medicinal value. Chrysanthemum chrysanthemum is widely planted in various parts of my country. It has a short growth cycle, can be harvested multiple times, and has significant economic value. However, during the planting process, problems such as low yield, poor quality, and easy flowering may occur. Let’s learn about the planting techniques and time of Chinese cabbage. 1. Choose the right time for sowing Although Chinese cabbage can be planted in all seasons, it is not heat-resistant and is more suitable for growing at temperatures between 15 and 22°C. It can withstand temperatures as low as -2°C. Spring and autumn are ideal sowing seasons, with spring from early March to mid-April and autumn from August to October. Sowing should be done in spring when the average daily temperature is above 10°C, and in autumn when it is below 22°C. 2. Seed treatment In order to ensure that the seedlings are complete, uniform and emerge quickly, it is recommended to germinate the chrysanthemum seeds . Soak the seeds in warm water at 50-55℃ for 15 minutes, then soak them in clean water for 8 hours, wrap them with wet gauze, and sow them after 70% of the seeds turn white. New seeds may need to be refrigerated for 7 days to break dormancy. 3. Precision sowing Choose soil with convenient irrigation and drainage, deep soil layer and rich in organic matter. Apply 2,000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure and 30 kg of diammonium phosphate as base fertilizer per mu. Chrysanthemum can be broadcast or sown in rows. After sowing, cover with about 1 cm of soil and water thoroughly. In early spring, the soil can be covered with mulch to conserve moisture. 4. Management after sowing Thinning: When the seedlings grow to 5 cm in height, thin them out and remove overcrowded seedlings and weeds. Top dressing: Apply 10 kg of urea after thinning. Note that urea takes time to convert into an absorbable form. Watering: Keep the soil moist and water every 3 to 5 days. 5. Harvest When Chinese cabbage grows to 20 cm in height, it can be harvested. Harvesting too late will affect the quality. When used for family consumption, you can leave 2 cm at the base of the main stem and cut it off to promote the sprouting of side branches and achieve multiple harvests. In summary, Chinese cabbage is generally harvested 40 to 50 days after sowing. It is not resistant to high temperatures, blooms easily under long days, likes moisture but is not resistant to waterlogging, and has the highest demand for nitrogen fertilizer. By applying nitrogen fertilizer during the growing season and keeping the soil moist, you can grow plump and tender chrysanthemum.
