Water cutting method of blue snow flower

Water cutting method of blue snow flower

1. Water cutting method

Blue snow flower can be propagated by water cuttings, ideally in summer. At the end of the flowering period, the branches that are about to wither can be pruned back, and the cut branches can be inserted into water. The branches can take root, sprout, and grow into new plants. Cutting off the bottom of the branch and then growing new branches will make it bloom again. Water-planting it during the flowering period is a way to kill two birds with one stone.

2. Precautions

1. The inflorescence part should be completely cut off. It is best to cut 1-2 more leaves from the flowering part downwards. Because the branches in this part are relatively thin and contain less nutrients, even if the branches can sprout, they are relatively thin and weak. It is not the part where we want to grow new plants, so we have to trim it off. For branches inserted in water, the leaves on them should be completely removed, as they will rot in water.

2. It is also relatively simple to put it into water. Generally speaking, cut the branch to about 15 to 20 cm long, and put one-third to one-quarter of it into the water. You can use clean water or tap water that has been left for two or three days. Change the water once a week until you see new roots growing at the bottom of the branches. Then you can transplant it into a pot and carry out normal maintenance. It is best to choose a light-proof or dark-colored container for water insertion, because strong light will inhibit the rooting of branches.
