How to breed blue snowflakes

How to breed blue snowflakes

1. Seed propagation

1. Preparation for sowing: Blue snow flower can be sown from April to June, and the flowering period will begin in the summer and autumn of the year of sowing. Its seeds are relatively large and can be sown in spots. First, choose loose, fertile loam with moderate fertility, put it in a flower pot or sowing tray, and spray water to allow the soil to fully absorb water.

2. Sowing: After the water has settled, you can sow the seeds on the culture soil, cover them with fine soil or fine sand that is about twice the diameter of the seeds, and after sowing, place them in a cool, ventilated and constant temperature environment. Pay attention to the moisture content of the soil at all times to ensure that the moisture is appropriate. It will germinate in about a week. After germination, you can gradually expose it to light and start normal water and fertilizer management. When two or three true leaves appear, place it in a pot and place it in a culture pot for normal maintenance.

2. Cutting propagation

1. Preparation for cuttings: The best time for cuttings of blue snow flowers is April to August. It is ideal to use semi-lignified young branches grown in the current year. Generally, branches with three to four nodes are selected for cuttings. The length of branches can range from five to seven centimeters to more than ten centimeters. When cuttings, all the lower leaves should be removed, leaving only 1-2 leaves on the upper nodes. If the leaves are too large, you can use scissors to cut off half of them.

2. Carry out cuttings: You can use plain sand for cuttings, or you can use loose, fertile loam with low nutrient content and place it in a flowerpot. When cutting, use a thin bamboo stick to make a hole in the soil, insert the cutting into the hole, pinch the flower spike with your middle finger and index finger, use a little force to make the cutting medium close to the cutting, and spray water to keep it moist after completion. If the maintenance environment is relatively dry, you can cover the flower pot with a plastic bag and place it in a cool, ventilated and temperature-constant environment. After about ten days, you will see it gradually resume growth. When new sprouts appear, the cuttings can be planted in small pots for normal maintenance.
