Pleurotus geesteranus , also known as ring-handled shiitake mushroom and purple spore pleurotus ostreatus, is a type of oyster mushroom. It is mostly grayish white or grayish brown in color, with a smooth surface and medium-thick flesh. Pleurotus geesteranus has strong saprophytic ability and is very easy to cultivate artificially. Below, I will introduce the high-yield factory cultivation technology of Pleurotus geesteranus. Let’s take a look. 1. Selection of excellent strains The excellent strain suitable for high-yield factory cultivation is Jinxiu. In addition, "Taiwan Oyster Mushroom" is the main promoted variety, which is favored by many growers. 2. Culture medium formula The best formula is 15% cottonseed hulls, 15% corn cobs, 26.5% sawdust, 20% bagasse, 20% bran, 2.5% soybean meal , and 1% lime . Other studies have also mentioned different culture medium formulations, such as 50% bagasse, 32% sawdust, 15% wheat bran, 1% gypsum powder, 2% lime, and 100 g urea. 3. Management during the germ-raising period The suitable spawning period for opening bags and fruiting mushrooms is 70 days. The fermentation temperature should not exceed 25℃, and should be reasonably arranged according to different strains, local temperature conditions, and production scale. 4. Cultivation methods Pleurotus geesteranus can be cultivated indoors or outdoors in shade sheds. It can be grown on bed frames and in vertical positions, or it can be grown by stacking walls, or by removing bags and placing them on beds and covering them with soil. 5. Cultivation site The site is required to be located at a high altitude, with convenient water and drainage, facing north and south, and away from pollution sources. Generally, the pipe shed is 25m long and 6m wide, with cultivation taking place on the ground 2.2m away from the top of the shed. 6. Bag making and inoculation The use of cooked material bag planting method can shorten the tide change period. The raw materials are sterilized at high temperature, and the structure of cellulose and lignin changes, which is conducive to the decomposition, absorption and utilization of mycelium. 7. Bacteria management When the mycelium reaches physiological maturity and during the mushroom cultivation period after each wave of mushroom harvesting, the temperature difference is widened, the ambient temperature is lowered to 5-10℃, and an appropriate amount of scattered light is given to promote the lodging of the mycelium on the surface of the material and fully twist and differentiate a large number of fruiting bodies. 8. Mushroom production management When the mycelium fills the bag and primordia appear, mushroom production management can be carried out, and the temperature difference in the greenhouse should be controlled at around 15°C to promote the growth of fruiting bodies. Keep the air humidity in the greenhouse between 85%-95% to meet the humidity requirements of Pleurotus geesteranus growth. The above is the high-yield factory cultivation technology of Pleurotus geesteranus. When the color of the cap of Pleurotus geesteranus gradually fades and the edges begin to flatten, it can be harvested. The mushroom body must be kept intact during harvesting, and a bunch of mushrooms must be picked at one time.
