Citrus planting conditions and geography: what areas are suitable for planting

Citrus Introduction

Citrus is a common fruit in our life. It mainly blooms in spring every year and has a long flowering period. It is cultivated in many places in my country. It is rich in nutrients, with the highest content of vitamins and carotene. It is the best material for preventing cancer. At the same time, its peel and flesh have good effects of soothing the liver and strengthening the spleen.

Citrus is also called wide-skinned tangerine, honey tangerine, yellow tangerine, red tangerine, Dahongpao, and Dahong honey tangerine. Citrus is divided into mixed tangerines, ponkan, sweet oranges, honey mandarins, and grapefruits.

Citrus Growing Conditions

Citrus prefers a warm, humid and sunny environment. It is slightly more cold-resistant than grapefruit, sour orange and sweet orange, but you still need to take measures to keep warm in winter.

Climate and Temperature for Citrus Planting

Citrus is a tropical fruit, suitable for growing in high-temperature tropical areas. The suitable growth temperature is between 23-29 degrees. It will stop growing when the temperature is below 13 degrees or above 37 degrees. The temperature also has a significant impact on the quality of the fruit. Generally, as the temperature rises, the sugar content and soluble solids increase, the acidity decreases, and the quality improves.

Suitable areas for citrus cultivation

Citrus is sensitive to water, so when planting, you should choose a place that is easy to water and drain. The world's orange producing areas are mainly distributed in the area south of 35 degrees north latitude. Brazil, the United States, China, Mexico, Spain, and Iran are all important producing areas. In my country, oranges are distributed in Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hubei, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Chongqing and Taiwan and other provinces and cities.

Citrus planting time

Citrus is generally planted in spring, which is best done from February to March before the spring shoots sprout, and the survival rate is very high.

Benefits of Citrus Planting

Citrus is a fruit that is loved by people. It contains health-care substances needed by the human body. It can be used as medicine and has ecological value. With the increase in citrus varieties and resources, its market share is also expanding. As market demand continues to increase, large-scale cultivation of citrus has also received more attention.
