Things to note when repotting cyclamen

Things to note when repotting cyclamen

1. Flowerpot selection

You can choose a unglazed clay pot with good air permeability for the flowerpot, and move the plant to a pot with a diameter of 16-17cm. If it is an old clay pot, it needs to be soaked and disinfected in a 1/5000 potassium permanganate aqueous solution. If it is a new pot, soak it in clean water for 30 minutes before using it.

2. Time to change pots

The time for repotting is generally chosen in the autumn before the peak growing season or after the peak growing season until around Qingming Festival. Repotting can increase the nutrients in the soil and provide appropriate nutrients for the growth and flowering period of cyclamen.

3. Repotting method

First, mix the ash and coarse gravel as a drainage layer or rubble pad, and then fill in the substrate. Take the bulb out of the flowerpot, remove the old soil around the roots, and then cut off long roots, dead roots and other debris. When planting, place 1/3 of the bulb above the soil surface to prevent it from rotting in the soil.

4. Maintenance methods

The plant should be maintained in a well-ventilated and well-lit place, and the ambient temperature should be kept at around 15°C. After repotting, water the soil thoroughly, disinfect the wounds where the branches and leaves of the plant are cut, and spray the plants with 800 times diluted agricultural streptomycin. Fertilize once every 7-10 days, and sprinkle 500-800 times liquid fertilizer on the leaves.
