How to grow jasmine

How to grow jasmine

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When growing jasmine, use loose soil as much as possible. If you use heavy sticky soil, root rot will easily occur.

2. Light: It is suitable for growing in an environment with sufficient light, so let it receive sufficient light every day. It can be grown on a balcony or in a sunny yard. However, it needs to be slightly shaded in midsummer. Too strong sunlight will easily turn its leaves yellow.

3. Fertilization: During the growing season, fertilize once in spring and autumn. It is best to apply fully decomposed fertilizer. Do not apply nitrogen fertilizer alone, which will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long and the flowers to decrease. Stop fertilizing when it enters a dormant period.

2. Breeding Methods

Cutting propagation: It is best to do it in summer and autumn. When cutting, choose healthy branches with a length of about 10-15 cm. Insert them into plain sand and make sure the soil is moist. If you do cuttings in autumn, it is best to cover them with a film to ensure sufficient humidity.

3. Common pests and diseases

Common diseases of jasmine are powdery mildew and leaf spot, and common insect pests are red spider mites and scale insects. When the plants are found to be infested by diseases and insects, they should be sprayed with pesticides as soon as possible. Diseases can be controlled with carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl, and insect pests are generally killed by spraying with omethoate emulsion.
