1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Black leaf taro should be grown in fertile, well-drained soil. It can be grown in leaf mold or peat soil.

2. Light: Keep it in a semi-shaded environment and avoid being exposed to strong light. If the light is too strong, the leaves will become rough and spotted; if the light is too weak, the plant will grow very thin.

3. Temperature: The black leaf taro should be given a growth environment of 25-35℃, and the minimum temperature should not be lower than 15℃. If the temperature is too low, it will stop growing. From March to September, the temperature should be controlled at 22-27℃, and from September to March of the following year, the temperature should be between 16-22℃.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Leaf cutting propagation: Cut off the leaves with more vigorous growth and put them into nutrient soil. Soon roots will grow, and then it can be transplanted into the soil and maintained normally.

2. Propagation by division: Divide the plant into parts so that each part has 2-3 plants. Be careful not to damage the roots when dividing the plants. Then plant them separately and keep the soil moist at ordinary times.

3. Common pests and diseases

1. Diseases: Common diseases of black leaf taro are gray mold and stem rot. Once discovered, you can use thiophanate-methyl or thiophanate-methyl to spray them carefully for prevention and control. In addition, ventilation must be ensured during normal maintenance. Stem rot is prone to occur in environments with high temperature and humidity.

2. Pests: Common pests are chimney insects, fall armyworms and cabbage loopers. Once found, they should be sprayed with omethoate emulsifiable concentrate or insecticide emulsifiable concentrate to control them in time.
