How to grow Christmas cactus

Christmas cactus is a plant of the cactus family. It likes warm and humid environment. It is shade-tolerant but not cold-resistant. If the temperature drops in winter, it should be moved indoors. The ambient temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees. The suitable growth temperature is 20-25 degrees. If properly maintained, Christmas cactus will soon bloom.

1. Suitable soil

If you want Christmas cactus to bloom, you need to provide a suitable soil environment. Christmas cactus needs loose, fertile, and well-permeable soil. You can mix it with garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand, or you can directly go to the market to buy special nutrient soil for maintenance.

2. Control the temperature

Christmas cactus likes a warm and humid environment, and its most suitable growth temperature is around 23℃. Therefore, when we are caring for it, if we want Christmas cactus to grow better, we must control the ambient temperature, especially in summer and winter. We must take corresponding cooling and warming measures in time to ensure the growth of Christmas cactus.

3. Control the light

The growth of Christmas cactus cannot be separated from appropriate light, and it needs to be maintained in a sunny place. However, in summer, the light cannot be too strong, otherwise sunburn will occur. Under normal circumstances, shade measures need to be taken in summer, normal maintenance is required in spring and autumn, and as much light as possible should be given to it in winter.

4. Reasonable watering

Christmas cactus likes a humid environment and needs to be watered frequently during its growth period to keep the soil moist. At the same time, water accumulation should be avoided. Watering should be done reasonably according to the dryness and wetness of the soil, and appropriate water should be sprayed on its leaves frequently to promote its growth.

5. Reasonable fertilization

Christmas cactus is a plant that likes fertilizer. If you want it to grow well, you need to apply thin fertilizer frequently, mainly during its growing season in spring, and fertilize once every ten days. When choosing fertilizer, use dilute liquid fertilizer mainly, and avoid concentrated fertilizer and raw fertilizer. It is recommended to combine fertilization with watering for better results.

Christmas cactus care precautions

Once you keep Christmas cactus in a place, do not move it around. It is very sensitive to the environment. If it is slightly different, the flower buds will fall off, the leaves will turn yellow, etc. In other words, every time you move it to a new place, it needs a process of adaptation, which will affect its growth and flowering.
