What soil is best for growing orchids?

1. Relevant requirements

(1) Loose and breathable: These two requirements must come first, so that it can breathe smoothly. Moreover, its roots can develop normally.

(2) Good drainage: The second one is about drainage. This is also very important because this plant is very afraid of waterlogging. If the drainage is not good, water will accumulate and it will easily harm the plants.

(3) Rich in humus: This is related to nutrition. It contains more nutrients, so it will grow vigorously in the future.

(4) Acidic: According to the characteristics of this plant, it does not like alkaline conditions but prefers acidic conditions. However, it doesn't need to be too acidic, a pH value of six to six and a half is enough.

2. Soil configuration method

(1) Orchid: For this, the preparation method is relatively simple. Just mix rotten bark and soil, with each accounting for half.

(2) Chinese orchid: This is a little more complicated, and there are more methods. First, mix leaf mold, red soil (wild or from the roadside), and river sand (or red sand) in a ratio of six to three to one. This method meets most requirements, including good ventilation, drainage and fertility. Second, you can mix leaf mold, red brick fragments, river sand, and dried animal manure. Leaf mold accounts for 60%, and the others each account for 10%. This method of mixing is more troublesome, but the effect is relatively good. There is a third way, which is relatively simple. Just mix leaf mold and sandy loam, half each. However, please note that no matter which one you choose, it cannot be alkaline.
