How to repot agave

How to repot agave

1. How to replace the basin

It should be changed in April every year. Carefully remove the old soil on the roots, cut off the dead roots, then spray pesticides to disinfect, and finally plant it again in a pot with good drainage and ventilation. You can lay a layer of rough tiles at the bottom of the pot to increase air permeability.

Its growth rate is very slow, so there is no need to change the pot frequently. If you change the pot frequently, it will not be good for it and will make its growth trend very poor. It is best suited to dry areas, with sandy soil being the best.

2. How to maintain after repotting

1. In the first few weeks, you should give it less water, and then gradually increase the amount. The suitable temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. If it is at night, it is best to be around 10 to 16 degrees Celsius. Winter is cold and dry, which is very beneficial to its growth. If you want it to successfully survive the severe cold, you must adjust the temperature above 5℃.

2. It prefers sunlight, so you need to move it outside to get some sunlight often. However, if it is a variety that can grow flowers, you should give it proper shade in the summer so that its color will be more beautiful and fresher.

3. In winter, if the place where it is located is relatively dark, you should keep it at this temperature. Don't water it and keep it in a dry environment, otherwise it will rot. In spring, you need to restore the light to it immediately, and the humidity should be around 40% is best. During its growing season, water it with fertilizer every two weeks.
