The old man loves to dig the soil when growing flowers. After digging the soil, the flowers grow rapidly and bloom crazily!

Uncle Li loves to dig the soil, and the gardenias bloom big and bright

Uncle Li has several pots of gardenias, which are in full bloom. The flowers are pure white and the fragrance fills the yard, which is really enviable. Grandpa Li was not idle as he was digging the soil with a small shovel. He gently scraped off a layer of soil on the surface of the flowerpot and then covered it with a new layer of soil. Why is this?

The water contains some saline-alkali substances, which will gradually accumulate on the surface of the potting soil after watering, making the top layer of soil gray and white, which can easily lead to soil salinization. Uncle Li’s goal is to remove the top layer of salinized soil!

Add some sawdust to the pot to make the soil soft and not compacted.

In addition to learning how to dig the soil in the pots like Grandpa Li, flower lovers can also add some sawdust to the soil to make it loose and breathable, and prevent the soil from becoming compacted and salinized. But the sawdust must be fermented.

1. Collect sawdust

Sawdust is the wood chips and debris produced when factories process wood. If conditions permit, you can go to the lumber mill to pick up some fresh sawdust. But don't pick up glue-bound sawdust.

2. Pour rice water into the sawdust

Put the sawdust into a plastic bucket, pour rice washing water on it to make sure the sawdust is thoroughly soaked, and finally cover it with a lid.

3. Fermentation in the sun

Put the plastic bucket in the sun and open the lid every 2-3 days. If the sawdust has less moisture, add some rice water.

4. Fermentation is good in 2 months

Generally, the sawdust will be fermented within 2 months, and its color will change from light yellow to black or dark brown.

5. Mix with soil, the soil should be loose and breathable

Add sawdust into the soil, the ratio of soil to sawdust should be 1:1. After stirring evenly, it can be used to grow flowers. Sawdust soil is not only very loose, but also rich in nutrients.

Pour some peel fertilizer liquid into the pot, and the soil is soft and fertile

Making fruit peels into organic fertilizer liquid and pouring it into the soil can also prevent soil compaction and salinization, and save money on buying fertilizer!

1. Collect various peels

The peels of common fruits in life can be used to make homemade liquid fertilizer, such as apples, oranges, bananas, dragon fruit, etc. If the fruit is rotten, don't throw it away, you can make liquid fertilizer with the peels.

2. Chop the peel

Use a knife to chop the peel into pieces. The smaller the pieces, the faster the fermentation will be and the nutrients will be released faster.

3. Bottle and seal

Put the chopped peels into a plastic bottle, then add clean water, about 80% full, cover the bottle cap, put it in the sun, open the bottle cap to breathe for 1 minute every 2-3 days, then cover it again. It will ferment in 1 month.

4. Watering the soil

The fruit peel fertilizer liquid cannot be used to water the flowers directly. If the concentration is too high, it will easily burn the flowers. Pour out an appropriate amount of fertilizer liquid, add 50 times the amount of water to dilute it, and then water the flowers. It is only necessary to water 1-2 times a month, and the flowers will grow rapidly after drinking it.

Soil compaction and salinization,

It is very detrimental to the growth of flowers.
