Cutting planting of longevity begonia

Cutting planting of longevity begonia

Prepare the materials:

Empty flower pot: a plain ceramic pot or clay pot with good air permeability and drainage.

Soil: In fact, the soil requirements of the Kalanchoe oleifera are not high. Ordinary sandy soil is enough, but it would be better if some humus could be mixed in.

Cutting time:

It can be done at any time.

Specific method of cutting:

First, use the soaking method to make the potting soil slightly moist.

The temperature should be kept between 20 and 25 degrees. If your home does not have such a temperature, you have to wait until the natural temperature is reached before taking cuttings, and at the same time keep the air humid. You can also wrap the entire flower pot with plastic film to keep it warm and moist. But when the temperature is high during the day, try to open the film to let the plants breathe and wrap them at night.

The cuttings can be selected from pruned branches. The plants need to be pruned significantly in spring every year, and the branches can be used for cuttings at this time. Cut the branches and place them directly into the soil.

Cut and insert as you go. This will also improve the survival rate of cuttings to a certain extent.

In fact, you can use its leaves directly for cuttings, but the leaves will take longer to root, and sometimes it will take about half a year to grow new roots.

Maintenance after cuttings:

Don't rush to expose the cuttings to the sun after three days. It is best to place them in a semi-shaded and semi-sunny place for a few days, and then slowly move them to the sun. But you still need to avoid the overly strong sunlight around noon.
