How to plant yacon

Soil light

Yacon prefers relatively moist sandy soil, which can generally be made into a substrate by mixing peat, pumice and perlite in a ratio of 1.5:3:1. Alternatively, you can use a mixture of coal slag, leaf mold, and perlite instead. In terms of light, yacon is a long-day plant. In summer, it can be properly shaded from the sun and grown under scattered light. It can receive sunlight for the rest of the time.

Watering and fertilizing

When watering, water the snow lotus thoroughly after placing it in the pot, and place it in a ventilated place to wait for new roots to grow. When growing, water again when it is dry. Be careful not to water the leaves when watering. Just give it a little water in winter. In terms of fertilization, nitrogen fertilizer is suitable in spring and phosphorus fertilizer is suitable in summer to help the growth of flowers and leaves. In autumn, more potassium fertilizer needs to be applied to make the flowers more beautiful and full. When flower buds appear, flower enhancer should be used to promote better flower quality.

Precautions

When planting yacon, the potting soil must be thoroughly sterilized. And the potting soil should not be too moist. It is necessary to apply well-rotted fertilizer to prevent seedling death. Secondly, be careful not to use hard water when watering. During the seedling period, it is recommended to water before 10 o'clock or after 3 pm. It is best to use river water, lake water or rain water. If not, you need to leave tap water for a day and a night before watering.
