Worm castings

I wonder if you have ever paid attention to earthworm manure? Earthworm manure is a magical tool for growing flowers, and its effect is comparable to chicken manure. After the rain, Huahua often wanders around the green space in the community, looking for some to take home to grow flowers.

Directions:

1. If you don’t pick up much, just crush it, sprinkle it into the flowerpot, and cover it with a layer of soil. This way, every time you water the flower, the fertility of the earthworm castings will seep in with the water.

2. If you are lucky and pick up a lot of earthworm castings, you can mix the earthworm castings and garden soil in a ratio of 1:3 and plant flowers directly.

Pine bark

I don’t know if you flower lovers have orchids at home. If so, when you see fallen pine bark when you go out, you must pick it up quickly! Pine bark is breathable and water-draining. If you use it to grow orchids, the leaves will be green and shiny and the roots will never rot. The effect is really great.

Directions:

1. The pine bark must be used after it is decomposed, so that its effect can be fully demonstrated. Otherwise, the pine bark will begin to decompose in the flowerpot, which will burn the root system.

What does decomposed pine bark look like? Remember Huahua, as long as it is under a pine tree and has been naturally decomposed, the surface is black and can be crushed with a light pinch. If there are no bugs, you can take it home.

2. If there is no decomposed pine bark, and only the hard kind that has just fallen off, we can decompose it ourselves. Break it into small pieces of about 3 cm, soak them in water, seal them in a plastic bag, and place them in the sun. After about half a year, the bark surface will turn black and you can take it out. If you think it's too slow, you can shorten the time a lot by cooking it in a pressure cooker first.

3. Pour boiling water through the bark to sterilize it. After drying, prepare decomposed pine bark, perlite, and peanut shells in a ratio of 4:1:1, and you can grow orchids!

sand

Huahua passed by a construction site yesterday and saw a lot of sand piled there. She asked the workers for some and took it home to grow flowers. I believe that friends who love to grow flowers have had such experience. Using sand for cuttings has the advantages of fast rooting and no root rot, so many people like to use it.

Directions:

1. Rinse the sand in water 5 times, then spread it out in the sun. Then prepare the plastic cups and drill holes in them.

2. Pour the dried sand into a plastic cup. Insert the cuttings that have been treated with carbendazim in advance into the fine sand and fill them with water. Remember to add water every day, so that they will take root quickly.

3. When the root system becomes stronger, you can move it into a flowerpot.

Pine Needles

Placing pine needles at the bottom of the pot is very effective in preventing root rot of plants. Because it is loose, breathable and water-permeable.

Directions:

1. The surface pine needles at the bottom of the tree are generally undecomposed. Such pine needles cannot be used directly. Otherwise, if the roots are burned, don’t blame Huahua for not reminding you.

2. It is best to dig the pine needles from the lower layer that have been naturally decomposed. If you can't dig it up, you can also use fresh pine needles to compost it artificially.

3. How to do it specifically? First, prepare a large plastic bag, put the pine needles in it, water it, and then seal it. Place it in a high temperature place and ferment for 2 months, then the pine needles can be used when they are decomposed. When repotting, mix it into the soil, or directly cover it with the soil in the pot.

Willow Branches

I wonder if anyone has ever tried the willow twig rooting method? Huahua tried it last time and the effect was great, so she immediately introduced it to her friends who love growing flowers. The willow rooting method mainly involves soaking the cuttings in willow extract to allow them to take root quickly. Because willow branches are rich in growth hormones, the saying "an unexpected planting of willow branches leads to a great shade" comes from this.

Directions:

1. Choose willow branches grown that year, remove the leaves, and cut them into small pieces of about 10 cm.

2. Use a heavy object to pound it a few times, so that the soaking time can be shortened.

3. After soaking it in clean water for four or five days, you can soak the bottom of the branches that need to be cut in willow branch liquid! After 2 days, take it out and stick it in the sand.
