Are you stupid enough to buy soil to grow flowers? Here are 2 tips to teach you how to make fertile and nutritious soil!

Homemade kitchen waste compost

Soil characteristics:

Kitchen waste compost soil is rich in nutrients and contains various elements for plant growth. When used, it can be mixed with sand to make it fertile and well-drained. It can make your flowers grow strong and disease-resistant.

Preparation method:

1. Collect leftovers from the kitchen and try to break them into smaller pieces.

2. Prepare a slightly larger flowerpot and dig some ordinary garden soil from the ground.

3. Add an appropriate amount of garden soil to the bottom of the flower pot to cover the flower pot.

4. Put the garbage collected in the kitchen into the flowerpot, cover it with a layer of soil, then add the kitchen garbage, and finally cover it with a thick layer of garden soil to block insects and odors.

5. Place the prepared compost in a place with light, high temperature and ventilation. It will be fermented in about half a year.

Homemade leaf mold

Soil characteristics:

Leaf mold is rich in humus and organic matter, and is loose, breathable and water-permeable. When mixed with other soils, it can increase soil fertility.

Production steps:

1. Collect dead leaves and then crush them and mix them with the soil so that the microorganisms in the soil can quickly decompose the leaves.

2. Go to the community or green belt and dig some garden soil for later use.

3. You can find a flower pot, or a plastic bucket will do if you don’t have a flower pot. First, pour a layer of garden soil into the flower pot.

4. Then add 8 to 10 cm thick fallen leaves into the bucket, pour some rice water, and put in some grapefruit peels and orange peels to remove odors.

5. After that, add a layer of garden soil on the top of the dead leaves, continue to add dead leaves and fallen leaves, add rice washing water, and cycle in sequence until the flower pot or plastic bucket is full.

6. Then cover it with a plastic bag. It doesn’t need to be completely sealed, just leave a small opening for ventilation. Place the prepared flower pot or plastic bucket in a well-ventilated place with scattered light. Let it ferment naturally and it will be ready to use soon.
