How to place the soil medium in potted plants

How to place the soil medium in potted plants

First, amplify the granular media

When you want to fill the flowerpot with soil, you should first put the large-grained medium in and place it at the bottom of the flowerpot.

The gaps in the large-particle medium are large, which can promote the discharge of water and facilitate air permeability, providing plants with a good ventilation and drainage environment. Therefore, placing it at the bottom of the flowerpot can protect the soil.

Then put the base medium layer

For plants, the growth of the root system depends on this second layer of basic medium. This layer is actually quite complicated because different plants require different types of soil.

Generally, when growing flowers indoors, you can choose ordinary culture soil, which is easier to clean. If you are growing flowers outdoors, just choose ordinary soil.

To add fertilizer

Fertilizer is indispensable when growing flowers. When potting, you need to add a little base fertilizer and mix it in the basic medium.

After choosing the soil, you need to add some fertilizer, which can be selected according to the needs of the plant. If the soil is not fertile enough, you can add some organic fertilizer. If the ventilation is acidic, you can add some alkaline fertilizer to neutralize it. If the soil is alkaline, you can add some acidic fertilizer to neutralize it.
