How to propagate juniper

There are many ways to propagate juniper, including layering, sowing and cuttings.

Layering

The first task of layering is to select healthy branches and peel off the bark from about 30 cm above. Do not cut the epidermis too deep. It is best to just cut off the epidermis. Take a piece of film, put some moist soil on it, and bandage the peeled part like bandaging a wound. After wrapping, tie the film tightly. About one to one and a half months after the above steps are completed, it will take roots and form a new plant.

sowing

The first thing is to collect seeds and select seeds. The best seeds to choose are healthy seeds of the year. Place the seeds in the liquid medicine for disinfection and then wash them with clean water. Select a nutritious substrate for sowing. After the seeds are processed, place the seeds evenly on the substrate, not too densely. Then cover the seeds with soil. Water them after sowing. It is best to use a spray watering tool when watering to prevent the seeds from being washed out. In winter, you can cover them with plastic film, which can keep warm and moisturize. After the seeds germinate, remove the film and place them in a sunny place.

Cuttings

The best time for cuttings is in late spring and early autumn, or early spring. The cuttings selected must first be strong. It is best to use branches of the current year for cuttings. After cutting the branches, divide them into several sections, making sure the upper and lower cuts are smooth. The substrate for cuttings can be nutrient soil, river sand, etc.
