Lily scale cutting method

Lily scale cutting method

How to use scale cuttings?

Lilies can be propagated by scale cuttings, which can be done in spring or autumn, but spring is best.

When carrying out scale cuttings, you need to choose a suitable cutting medium. Loose, breathable and water-permeable soil is preferred. It is generally made from a mixture of river sand, vermiculite, peat soil, etc. Just cut the scales into the soil. Spray water immediately after cuttings, and keep the water level between 30% and 50%. Don't make it too moist.

Choose relatively strong and healthy lily bulbs, clean them and remove the dirt and dry scales;

Remove the scales on the bulb and peel off the scales at the edge layer by layer. When peeling the scales, be careful to ensure that there are some stem disks on the scales, which is conducive to rooting. The peeled scales need to be soaked in carbendazim for disinfection, and then placed in a ventilated place to dry;

Prepare the potting soil, the soil should be written, and then water it thoroughly;

After preparing the soil, you can cut the lily scales into the soil, keep the soil moist, and then place it in a cool place for maintenance;

After half a month, the scales of the lily will slowly take root. After a month, smaller bulbs will grow out, which means that the lily scale cuttings have been successful.
