Radish planting method steps Radish planting time and cultivation technology points

Radish absorbs a large amount of nutrients during its growth period, with potassium being the most abundant. During maintenance, it is necessary to apply compound fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium elements once a month, supplemented with nitrogen fertilizer, to promote the fatness of the radish.

Radish is a semi-cold-resistant vegetable. Its seeds can germinate at a low temperature of 2-3 degrees, and the suitable temperature for germination is 20-25 degrees. The suitable temperature for the growth of its stems and leaves is 15-20 degrees. When the temperature is below minus 1 degree, frost damage will occur. At this time, the radish should be covered with straw.

When to plant radish

The planting time of radish is mainly determined by its variety, that is, according to the season.

When planting spring radish , it is usually sown in early spring from February to March , and the growing period is about January to February. If it is in the northern high latitude areas such as East and West North China , it should be sown around April . Planting summer radish is generally sown in May and can be harvested in July.

The most common planting time for autumn radish depends on the planting area. If it is in warmer areas such as North China and Northwest China , then it is sown in July and August , while in colder areas the sowing time should be in early to mid-July .

Radish planting steps

1. Land preparation and fertilization

Generally, radishes grow quite deep, so when choosing a planting site, try to select a plot with deeper soil and looser soil, so that the radishes can grow faster and without resistance underground.

If the soil layer is shallow, you need to make ridges when preparing the land, and make the ridges higher, which will increase the thickness of the soil. Secondly, when preparing the land, you need to make ditches around the land to facilitate drainage and irrigation.

The most important thing when preparing the land is to apply enough base fertilizer , which is usually phosphate fertilizer, livestock manure or organic fertilizer.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

The general method of sowing radish is direct seeding. Holes are made at certain intervals on the prepared ground. Before sowing , each hole needs to be watered once to ensure that the soil is wet. Then sowing is carried out. Generally, four or five seeds are placed in each hole , and finally the seeds are covered with a thin layer of soil .

In about a week, most of the seeds will sprout. At this time, water them again and add some urea, and the seedlings will grow quickly.

Key points for high-yield management of radish

The roots of radish are fleshy roots, and the higher the air temperature, the higher the quality. During planting, prevent the soil from being too dry. It is best to spray water on the land frequently to increase humidity.

After sowing radishes, they need to be covered with a layer of plastic film to maintain the daytime temperature at 25 degrees and the nighttime temperature at 15-20 degrees. After 5-7 days, the radishes will emerge.
