According to legend, a long time ago, Emperor Li Shimin was bitten by a poisonous snake in the wild while hunting. None of the imperial doctors in the palace could cure him, but he was cured by a country doctor named Xu Changqing. The doctor used at that time was the "snake dysentery grass" which was not yet called Xu Changqing. Li Shimin did not express his commendation for the doctor, but named the grass Xu Changqing, and it has been passed down to this day.
