Method of water-inserting roses

Method of water-inserting roses

Materials and Tools

Plain soil (ordinary soil without nutrients)

Substrate (sand, vermiculite, perlite, etc.)

Disposable plastic cups (at least 2)

Preparation

Use a knife to cut a hole in a disposable cup (other methods are also acceptable, such as burning a small hole with a cigarette butt, or flower lovers' own methods ). The purpose of making an outlet or hole is to make the cup water permeable.

Then you need to put another new cup on top of this cup to temporarily hold water. You will see its intuitive use later.

Treatment of branches

If the roots of the rose are about the same length as those in the picture below, it can be planted in a pot. (Many people may have some doubts about this step. When should the roots grow long enough to be potted? Through experimental comparison, it is roughly concluded that longer roots are more likely to survive in pots. Therefore, when the roots are about 3-5 cm long, you can consider potting. )

Then cut off the excess leaves at the red line in the picture below. (More leaves can facilitate effective photosynthesis when planted in water, which will help the plant grow roots faster. But if you want to plant in a pot, you need to cut off the extra leaves to reduce water evaporation.)

The picture below shows the branches after the above treatment.

Steps for basin installation (I)

Take out the cups prepared in the first step, and place a layer of large-particle coal slag or soil at the bottom of the cup (to facilitate drainage ). If vermiculite or perlite is used, put the substrate first, with a quantity of 1/2 or 1/3, and then put the water in. Since the two cups are placed in a nested manner, the mouth and holes made for the first cup in the first step will not affect the next step.

Steps for potting (II)

This step is to place the branches treated above in water and straighten them.

Next, hold the branches with your hands while adding soil to the water (the resistance of water can effectively reduce the damage of particles to the roots when adding soil, which is the unique feature of potting in water). After adding the soil, you can remove the outer cup without a gap. Then, because of the mouth and holes of the inner cup, excess water will gradually leak out, and its water permeability will come into play.

After potting the rose using this special water-insertion method, place it in a cool place and start exposing it to proper light after one or two days. This will greatly ensure the survival rate of the rose.

Have you learned this special "water-in-pot method"? Go and try it right away. I believe that with your carefulness, you will be able to make the rose bloom beautifully!
