How to sow bicolor jasmine

How to sow bicolor jasmine

Sowing method

Seed selection

Before sowing, the seeds must be selected to remove the dry and rotten seeds. This step is directly related to the success of sowing. Mainly follow the following three methods:

①Choose seeds grown in the current year, because the longer the seeds are stored, the lower the germination rate

② Choose large, full seeds without any defects or deformities.

③Choose seeds that are not eaten by pests and diseases

disinfect

The disinfection mentioned here includes two aspects. One is to disinfect the seeds. Soak the seeds in 60℃ hot water for 15 minutes, and then put them in warm water to germinate for 12 to 24 hours. The second is to disinfect the soil for sowing. The best way is to fry it in a hot pan. The second best way is to soak it in potassium permanganate solution and then dry it.

Germination

Soak the seeds in warm water for 12 to 24 hours until the seeds absorb water and swell slightly. Take out and dry them before sowing.

sowing

Use tweezers to hold the seeds and place them one by one into the soil, with a spacing of about 1 cm, and cover them with 2 to 3 cm of thin soil.

After sowing, place the flower pot in water, with the depth of the water being 1/2~2/3 of the height of the flower pot. Allow the water to slowly soak the soil.

Use a spray to wet the surface of the potting soil. Later, when the soil is slightly dry, you can spray water. Be careful not to water too hard to avoid washing away the seeds.

Post-sowing care

Heat preservation and moisturizing

There is no strict restriction on the sowing time of bicolor jasmine. It can be sown in late autumn, early spring, or winter. Therefore, if the weather is cold and dry after sowing, wrap the entire flower pot with plastic film to keep warm and moisturize to promote seed germination.

Supplemental sunlight

After the seedlings grow out, remove the film in time and allow the seedlings to fully receive sunlight before 9 am and after 3 pm every day to prevent any seedlings from growing weak.

In addition, when the seedlings grow to a certain age, thinning should be carried out, and the weak seedlings should be pulled out by the roots to save nutrients for the strong seedlings.
