How to propagate blue stone lotus

How to behead blue stone lotus

Beheading is usually performed after the blue stone lotus has grown too tall. When the blue stone lotus grows too tall, the central leaves will obviously gather together and the stems will elongate. At this time, you can pick off the leaves, cut off the elongated parts, and replant them.

Blue stone lotus has a strong reproductive ability and likes to grow in groups. The cut leaves and young shoots will quickly take root and grow, and the remaining parts will also produce many small buds, which is another growth landscape.

Leaf cutting method of blue stone lotus

Select a healthy and disease-free mother plant and cut the leaves. You can choose old leaves or young buds and cut them off.

Then lay it flat or bury the base slightly into the soil and keep the soil dry. To promote rooting, you can use Akadama soil or vermiculite for cuttings, which can increase the survival rate.

After 2 to 3 weeks, small buds will gradually emerge from the leaves. When they grow up, they can be potted or directly maintained in the original pot.

How to sow blue stone lotus

Since the seeds of blue stone lotus are very small, it is almost impossible to sow them by spot sowing, so they are usually sown blindly. Fold a piece of stiff white paper in half to form a paper trough. Place the seeds carefully on the white paper and tap the back of the paper gently so that the seeds can be evenly sown in the designated area.

After sowing, maintain a certain humidity. If conditions permit, use a seedling box to sow, which can increase the germination rate.
