Breeding methods and precautions for winter corals

Farming methods

soil

When planting winter coral in pots, you should choose a flowerpot of appropriate size and make sure it is loose when planting. The soil should be fertile and well-drained, and a little base fertilizer can be added.

Light and temperature

Winter coral likes a warm growing environment and sunlight, and is suitable for growing in sunny places. The suitable temperature for its growth is between 18℃ and 25℃. In winter, when the temperature is low, it is necessary to ensure that its living environment temperature is not lower than 5℃ so that it can safely overwinter. In addition, it likes sunlight, so it is best not to block the light. When the temperature is high and the sunlight is strong in the summer, it can be placed in a well-ventilated and bright place for maintenance.

Watering and fertilizing

Winter coral is not drought-tolerant and is more afraid of waterlogging, so avoid stagnant water in the pot. During the breeding process, the soil needs to be kept moist and watered appropriately. It should not be too dry or too wet. Fertilization can be done once every half a month with a thin liquid fertilizer. Note that some phosphorus fertilizer needs to be applied before flowering to ensure more flowers and fruits. During the flowering period, it is necessary to control water and fertilizer to avoid falling flowers and fruits. When the fruit grows to the size of a mung bean, you can resume watering and fertilizing, and apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers appropriately to make the fruit brighter.

Breeding precautions

Reproduction method

Winter corals are mostly propagated by sowing or cuttings. Sowing is done in spring, and cuttings can be done in spring or autumn.

Pests and diseases

Potted winter corals are prone to anthrax when the temperature is high in summer, which harms the stems and leaves and causes serious disease. When the disease occurs, the diseased leaves can be cut off and burned, and pesticides need to be sprayed. The main pests are aphids, which can be killed by spraying insecticides.

Flowering Management

The flowering period management of winter coral mainly involves water and fertilizer management. It is necessary to suspend fertilization and control watering. After the fruit grows, you can resume watering and fertilizing.
