Can taro be grown hydroponically?

Taro can be grown hydroponically, but soil cultivation is better because taro is a tuberous plant. Generally, as long as the soil is okay, it almost does not require any management. However, hydroponics is more difficult to maintain, otherwise the taro will easily rot.

Methods and key points of taro hydroponic cultivation

1. Prepare the container

When growing taro hydroponically, you can prepare a glass container. It needs to have vents, but it cannot leak. The size of the container should match the size of the plant.

2. Water treatment

Hydroponic taro requires clean water without impurities. Tap water needs to be exposed to the sun for 24 hours before use, which can play a role in sterilization and disinfection.

3. Carry out hydroponics

After disinfecting the container, put in an appropriate amount of clean water, the water level should be half of the taro, then add an appropriate amount of nutrient solution into the water to provide it with nutrients.

Precautions for growing taro in water

The water of water-grown taro needs to be changed according to seasonal changes. Generally, the water can be changed every 7 days or so in spring and autumn when the climate is mild. In summer, when the temperature rises, the water can be changed every day. In winter, the frequency of water changes can be appropriately reduced.
