Watering principlesDuring the growth period, the nail orchid needs sufficient water to grow. When watering, make sure the soil is 80% dry and 20% wet. Watering should be based on the principle of "water when dry, stop when wet, and keep it slightly dry". Water thoroughly, not halfway. Watering frequency and timeWatering should be based on different soil types. If the soil is slightly harder, such as volcanic rock or red brick particles, water it once a day. If it is pond mud or humus soil with strong water absorption, the watering frequency can be reduced appropriately, watering once every 2 to 3 days. The best time to water is early in the morning or late in the evening. Watering at noon is a taboo. The water quality must be clean and pollution-free. Never use leftover water from the home kitchen. The selected water quality is generally acidic. Unclean water can easily cause root rot of plants and affect their growth. Rooting waterAfter planting the nail orchid, the first watering is "rooting water". The plant must be watered thoroughly, usually twice in a row. The first time, water it again after you see water flowing out of the holes at the bottom of the pot. Watering methodThe spraying method is generally used for nail orchids, which can not only increase the air humidity, but also clean the dust on the leaves. For the flowering nail orchid, it is not advisable to use the spraying method. Instead, place the entire orchid pot in a basin of water and use the immersion method. Note: When watering, pay attention to the water temperature, which should be close to room temperature. In winter, the plants should be kept indoors and the water temperature should generally be controlled at around 15°C. |
