How to dry and eat gardenia

How to dry and eat gardenia

1. Gardenia drying method

If you want to eat gardenias, you should choose buds that are not fully open or flowers that have just opened. Such gardenias have higher edible value. When picking, cut off the base of the flower, then cut off its pedicels and calyx, and also turn the corolla downwards and spread it into a thin layer, then dry it in an oven or bake it over low heat. Note: Do not expose to direct sunlight, otherwise it will affect the eating effect and taste.

2. How to eat gardenia

1. Make tea: Dried gardenia flowers can be used to make tea, which is also the most common way of consumption. First take out two or three gardenias and put them in a teacup. Prepare 95-degree hot water and pour it directly into the teacup for brewing. It is best to simmer it for 3 minutes after pouring in the hot water. This will allow the gardenia to exert its greater efficacy and allow its essence to be integrated into the water. Gardenia has a strong fragrance, so you can brew it several times and then pour it out after the fragrance dissipates.

2. Stir-fry: Dried gardenia flowers can also be used for stir-frying, which not only tastes good but also has high nutritional value. First, wash the dried gardenias and prepare an appropriate amount of chives. Heat oil in a pan and sauté minced garlic, then add gardenia and stir-fry quickly. After frying soft, pour in the leek, stir fry a few times, add salt and chicken essence to taste and serve.
