Cultivation methods and precautions of Japanese begonia

Cultivation methods and precautions of Japanese begonia

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Japanese begonia likes to grow in acidic soil with good drainage, looseness and breathability. You can mix some river sand + rotten leaves + garden soil. This kind of soil is suitable for its growth. Be careful not to use alkaline soil for planting.

2. Light: It likes relatively warm light, so it should be exposed to more sunlight so that it can grow healthily. However, in summer, it still needs to be blocked from the sun and moved to a cooler, shadier place to avoid being exposed to the sun.

3. Temperature: Its suitable growth temperature is in an environment of 18-28℃, and it is best not to exceed 32℃ in summer. Its cold resistance is not very strong, so try to keep the temperature above 10℃ in winter, and move it indoors for maintenance when winter comes.

4. Water: It needs a lot of water. It needs to be watered every two days in spring and summer. In autumn and winter, less watering is needed.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pinching: When the flowers fade, you need to pinch the tips of the flowers. Basically, you pick it as it grows, which can promote the growth of side branches and make the flowers fuller and more ornamental.

2. Pruning: Appropriate pruning is required at the end of its flowering period each year. It is necessary to cut off its dead flowers and leaves, which can promote its healthy growth and prevent diseases and pests.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Leaf falling: This is because the temperature is too high and the humidity is also high in summer, and coupled with a lack of ventilation and air permeability, its leaves will fall off. Put it in a ventilated and cool place to slow down.

2. Diseases: It can be affected by leaf spot disease which causes spots to appear on the leaves. After the disease occurs, not only should the diseased leaves be removed, but carbendazim or other drugs should also be used for prevention and control.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be raised at home: It can be raised at home. Because it likes light, it is recommended to raise it in a place with good lighting conditions indoors and ventilate it frequently.

2. How long is the flowering period: It blooms between January and February, and the flowering period is also very long, lasting up to two months.
